New Microsoft Internet Explorer Vulnerability Discovered!

Internet Explorer Vulnerability



A new vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer has been found for users who are running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. The vulnerability exploits the way that Internet Explorer handles playing video content. Users can become a victim of this exploit by simply visiting a hacked site. Often times the infected sites are sent through spam emails, social networking messages, and instant messages. Ones a user is taken to the hacked site, they can then be infected with malicious content or their computer can then be hacked allowing an attacker to gain remote access to the users computer. There are no security patches available at this time, but Microsoft is working on the issue.

Other helpful suggestions to avoid infections:

  • Do not click any unexpected links in instant messages, even if it is from someone you know.
  • Verify the validity of a link or attachment if it looks suspicious.
  • Do not download email attachments from unexpected sources. Do not download unknown files or files from unknown sources.
